Ironman Wisconsin Header

THANK YOU for your interest in
volunteering for Ironman Wisconsin!

Event Date: Sunday, September 9, 2007

How to Volunteer:
Carefully review the duty descriptions and note any required qualifications for the area you wish to volunteer. Then sign up via the link at the bottom of this page, or the link at the bottom of all of the volunteer position descriptions pages. Please carefully read all required qualifications before volunteering.

If a particular volunteer opportunity is not listed when you enter the registration system it has been filled with the necessary amount of volunteers. Please select another available volunteer position.

Each volunteer must register individually. *Any group volunteering must register each person.

Once you have signed up for a shift you are automatically assigned to that shift. Feel free to sign up for as many volunteer duties as you wish throughout the day, but please do not sign up for two areas that require you to be at during the same time frame.

After you register your Ironman captain will contact you before August 30th to provide you with further information.

Tranzition Zone Volunteer Opportunities:

  • bodymarking volunteer
  • Body Marking:
Volunteers use permanent markers to mark the athlete's race number on his/her leg and arm prior to the swim start. This job starts at 5:00 A.M. and is over by 6:30 A.M. so you may want to volunteer for another job after 7:00 A.M.
  • Female Change Room:
Assist female athletes by unpacking their gear bag and repacking the used clothing and equipment. These bags are then sorted in numerical order and placed back into the gear bag room. Female volunteers only please.
  • Male Change Room:
Assist male athletes by unpacking their gear bag and repacking the used clothing and equipment. These bags are then sorted in numerical order and placed back into the gear bag room. Male volunteers only please.

  • Bike Handlers:
Handlers retrieve bikes from the athletes as they dismount and transition to the run portion of the race. There are two types of bike handlers, "Bike Givers" who ensure the athletes get their bikes and "Bike Takers" who take the bike and re-rack it following their ride. Children will not be allowed to be a "Bike Takers" but can help in re-racking.
