How to Volunteer: Carefully review the duty descriptions and note any required qualifications for the area you wish to volunteer.
 
Each volunteer must register individually. *Any group volunteering must register each person.

Once you have signed up for a shift you are automatically assigned to that shift. Feel free to sign up for as many volunteer duties as you wish throughout the day, but please do not sign up for two areas that require you to be at during the same time frame.

After you register your Ironman captain will contact you before August 30th to provide you with further information.

• Medical Tent:
  Medical volunteers will be treating athlete maladies that include exhaustion, dehydration, and abrasion from bicycle falls or nausea/vomiting. In past years, medical volunteers have found volunteering in the medical tent to be very rewarding, as the athletes are extremely grateful for the care they receive, and this provides an opportunity to work with new colleagues in a unique environment.
  
  All medical and non-medical personnel in the tent will have the opportunity to assign themselves to a specific area or pod within the medical tent, triage area, aid stations, and transition area (Monona Terrace). There will be a medical meeting explaining the protocols and procedures Thursday, September 4th at the Monona Terrace. Time is to be determined. All licensed healthcare providers need to fax or mail a copy of their license to:

• Physicians, PA and NP: A physician of any specialty, licensed in Wisconsin, will provide care to athletes who are ill or injured during or after the Ford Ironman Wisconsin 2008. Each physician will supervise 2-4 units, with each unit consisting of 8 beds and one nurse and/or Paramedic.
• Nurse or Paramedic: A nurse or Paramedic, licensed in Wisconsin, will provide care to athletes who are ill or injured during or after Ford Ironman Wisconsin 2008. Each nurse or Paramedic will care for one unit consisting of 8 beds.
• Allied Health Care: Professional healthcare workers such as CNA, OT, PT, RT, CVT, EMT, must bring current license, to help provide care to athletes who are ill or injured during or after Ford Ironman Wisconsin 2008 in the medical tent. EMT's only will be allowed to sign up in the transition tent, aid stations, and the massage area.
• Registration/Runner: Non-medically trained volunteers will help provide assistance to medical personnel. No medical knowledge or experience is required, and volunteers can help to register athletes, provide logistical support, keep supplies restocked, or in any other capacity that might be needed.
