Additional Information + Extras:

For 2017 we have taken the standard junior golf event and added a new twist. Participants will be competing in three events during their BSG Golf experience.
ALL NEW BSG Golf Skills Challenge!
Players will compete in 4 golf skill challenges driving, chipping, putting and recovery shot.
9 Hole BSG Play Challenge!
The players will compete in a standard 9 hole stroke play event on an age appropriate length course.
Overall BSG Golf Challenge!
The players scores from the Skills Challenge and the 9 Hole Play Challenge will be added together to create an overall score.​

All athletes must sign the Badger State Games Athlete Waiver online during registration or on the printable registration forms at check-in.
(Waivers are attached to the registration forms)
 
Practice range balls complimentary upon check in on day of tournament.

For those that want to cheer on our athletes and to see them bring home the gold here are a few tips:
 
Best place to view the event & how much you can see: Spectators may walk the course.
 
Seating Available or bring your own chairs: Yes

Badger State Games Junior Golf Skills Challenge
All scoring will be based on a 25-point-per-shot basis.
Each participant will take three shots per skill.
Each participant will accumulate points per shot in all four skills
The maximum is 75 points per skill.
The overall champion in each age category will be determined by the participant with the most points accumulated between all four skills
1st place -Gold Medal
2nd Place - Silver Medal
3rd Place - Bronze Medal

DRIVING - Hole # 6
40-yard wide fairway - all shots must finish in the fairway to score points.
Flags marking both sides of the fairway at 25-yard increments.
A ball coming to rest on any of the boundary lines is considered in bounds.
A ball coming to rest on any of the scoring lines will be scored in the longer of the two scoring grids.

CHIPPING - Hole # 7
Each participant will attempt three 10-15 yard shots at the scoring hole.
All shots will be measured from the center of the hole with a string clearly marking the scoring rings.
A ball coming to rest on any of the scoring lines will be scored in the higher of the two point rings.

Point System for All Ages

A ball finishing more than 10' from the hole 1 point
A ball finishing 8' – 10' from the hole 2 points
A ball finishing 6' – 8' from the hole 5 points
A ball finishing 4' – 6' from the hole 10 points
A ball finishing 2' – 4' from the hole 15 points
A ball finishing 2' or nearer to the hole 20 points
Hole in One 25 points


PUTTING - Hole # 8
Each participant will attempt one putt from each distance (6 feet, 15 feet and 30 feet).
Putts will be measured from the center of the hole with a string clearly marking the scoring rings.
A ball coming to rest on any of the scoring lines will be scored in the higher of the two point rings.

Point System for All Ages

A ball finishing more than 5' from the hole 1 point
A ball finishing 4' – 5' from the hole 2 points
A ball finishing 3' – 4' from the hole 5 points
A ball finishing 2' – 3' from the hole 10 points
A ball finishing 1' – 2' from the hole 15 points
A ball finishing 1' or nearer to the hole 20 points
Hole in One 25 points


RECOVERY - Hole # 9
Each participant will attempt 3 recovery shots from a location with an obstacle placed between them and the hole.
Points will be awarded based on distance that the recovery shot ends up from the hole.
Balls cannot be hit over the obstacle.

Point System for All Ages

Any ball that hits the obstacle items 1 point
A Ball that clears the obstacle but ends up OB or in a lateral hazard 3 points
A ball that clears the obstacle and ends up within 40 yards of the green 5 points
A ball that clears the obstacle and ends up within 20 yards of the green 10 points
A ball that comes to rest on the putting green 15 points
A ball that comes to rest on green less than 20 feet from the hole 20 points
Hole in One 25 points
 
Badger State Games Junior Golf Playing Challenge (9 Holes)
After completeing the skills competition, participants will then play a 9 hole stroke play round on an age appropriate length course.

Badger State Games Junior Golf Overall Challenge
The players 9 hole round of golf score will be accessed a points value which will be added to their total score from the skills competion to create an overall Gold, Silver and Bronze medal winner in all age divisions.
